Book Club #1

Hello fellow-book-worms!

Nothing brings people closer together then the love of great literature! Today I would like to start a series of posts labelled; you guessed it.. Book Club!! For our first time I would like us all to bury our noses into a fantasy novel (one of my favourite genres) by Patrick Rothfuss The Name of the Wind, the first in the Kingkiller Chronicles. This story is told in the voice of Kvothe and is said to be considered one of the best fantasy books in the 21st century, behind Harry Potter of course. I have buried my nose into the first few chapters and can safely say that ladies and gentlemen this is a good one!

I hope you all enjoy this read as much as I am and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the novel in the comments below. Don't fear, if fantasy is not your forte this is the first of a number of posts and I hope you can join me soon on this book club adventure! What is your favourite novel?

My Pretty Little Jewels

Hi Girls,

Today I wanted to share with you a review on my favourite European purchase, my Swarovski jewels. Mid August I was strolling the streets of the town square in Krakow, Poland, the most impressive square I have ever been too and something sparkly caught my eye in the window at Swarovski. Now previous to this I had never purchased from Swarovski as I am a big believer in the whole 'diamonds are a girls best friend' thing and really prefer quality over quantity. While browsing the store I kept being drawn back to these beautiful earrings I caught a glimpse of in the window.

Needless to say I took the plunge and I couldn't be happier. The quality of them is great, I'm constantly getting compliments on them and Swarovski provide an international warranty on them, which includes replacement of any crystals if they were to fall out. For any girls out there who have thought about their beautiful pieces but are too scared to take the plunge as I was you will be impressed as I was. I am already contemplating my next purchase! You can purchase these earrings here

Pumpkin DEElight

Happy Friday night blogging world!

If you have been reading my blog for a while now, you would have learned that I am a massive foodie, however I do care for my health (although I do wish I could eat macarons everyday for the rest of my life). Pumpkin soup is one of my very favourite dishes - I love that rich, thick pumpkin consistency and the warmness it leaves in my tummy after a steaming hot bowl full.

Today I want to share the most amazing pumpkin soup recipe I have had in a very long while. I used Donna Hay's recipe, however modified it so there was no lactose (I'm intolerant) which in turn gave me less calories and fat. I hope you all enjoy xx

Ingredients

1 x 2kg whole butternut pumpkin
1 x onion
Olive oil for drizzling
Sea salt (I used himalayan rock salt)
3 1/2 cups of chicken stock
1 x cup of cream (I used zymil cream)
1 x tablespoon honey
Sour cream to serve

Method

1. Preheat oven to 230 cut the pumpkin in half lengthway's and scoop out the seeds. Place the pumpkin, cut-side up, and onion on a baking tray.

2. Drizzle with a little oil and sprinkle with salt. Bake for 55 - 60 minutes or until the pumpkin is soft and starting to brown.

4. Scoop the pumpkin out of the skin into a blender. Also scoop the onion flesh away from its skin and add to the blender.

5. Add 1 cup of the chicken stock and blended until smooth or to desired consistency.

6. Put the mixture into a saucepan, add remaining stock, cream and honey.

7. Place over medium heat until soup is heated through.

8. Serve with sour cream.

Bon Appetit

Wedding Stationary

Happy Saturday dolls!

Today I wanted to share with the intrigued bride to be's, stationary lovers and organisational freaks (I fit into all of the above categories) my perfect wedding stationary.

Let me start by saying that I did not go crazy and purchase wedding things as soon as I got engaged, to be honest with you I want to savour every moment of being engaged, lusting over my perfect wedding and planning every little detail as let's be honest you are only engaged for a little while. However it is no secret that pretty little wedding details pop up and innocently surprise us, this is when you need somewhere  to put all of your pieces and great ideas together ready for your wedding timeline of purchasing and creating.

One fine Sunday I was innocently strolling through Robina Town Centre and came across Kikki k only my most favourite stationary stores. I wandered around landing up at the wedding section and at first glance fell in love with this wedding notes book.

If you have no idea where to start with your wedding planning this is the notebook for you. It features a wedding countdown checklist and tabs for budget, guests, stationary, attire, beauty, flowers, ceremony and vows, transport, reception, venue, cake and caterer, entertainment, photography, gifts, honeymoon and miscellaneous. Within the pages the book goes into such detail and has pockets in the hard cover for things like business cards and paper samples for your invitations. This book is honestly my lifeline!!

I also purchased the everyday ballpoint pen in cute which is bright and fun. I prefer to write with the same size ball point and ink throughout something special to keep it looking nice and consistent throughout, not to mention this baby is refillable!

You can purchase the ball point pen in cute Here and the wedding notes book Here

I really hope you all loved this post on wedding planning and stationary in general. Please leave a comment with anything you would like to see on the blog whether it be organisation or wedding related, also if you have found that perfect wedding organiser and where your purchased it.

Lots of love

- Jacqueline xoxo

Bonjour

Hi dolls!

It is no secret I am back from my adventures however haven't yet had time to update you all on the blogging front. I hope you all enjoyed my photos I posted on Instagram while I was away, if you don't follow me on Instagram you can check them out here jacjoyce_

My travels led me to many places, my long haul flight stopped over in Guangzhou China which was interesting to say the least. I was disappointed I did not get to buy many cute Asian pieces as the airport was just way too expensive. Arriving in Europe I landed in Charles de Gaulle airport, Paris where I explored for 5 nights before continuing on to Krakow, Poland for four nights, Vienna Austria for two nights, Hannover Germany for one night, Venice Italy for two nights, Florence Italy for four nights and finally Portici Italy for three nights before venturing back to Paris and home to Australia.

The night before I returned home Joe my darling proposed to me while in Portici nestled away in the south of Italy, of course I said yes! Life has been beyond perfect ever since and busy with wedding planning. I hope to share the next year with you all very closely and cannot wait to share all of the pretty little things with you along to way to my journey of a bride to be. Bye for now, Jac xxxx

In The Life Of

Good Morning Beauties! Let me start by saying I am sorry I have been completely M.I.A as of late but I do have A LOT of exciting news to catch you all up on.

The past couple of weeks have been a complete whirl wind and I am feeling very very blessed. I have moved into a new house with a beautiful exposed brick wall stair case and an upgrade of a closet (which can never be a bad thing) and am in the process of decorating and trying to make it homely, I am very excited to give you all a sneak peak of some decor soon. Along with the move I secured myself a distinction on my first University assignment and landed myself a Marketing Internship with a very well known corporation here in Australia, I am SO excited to get started and learn as much as possible as soon as possible hehe.

Now that my home and work life have taken off on the road of my dreams I felt I needed a reward and booked myself flights to Paris on the 1st of August where I will be traveling around the city of love and other places for three weeks with my boyfriend Joe. It is safe to say that holiday mode planning is in complete swing at the moment! I have booked the first five nights in a beautiful Parisian Hotel located a fifteen minute walk to the Iconic Eiffel Tower where our days will be filled with delicious pastries, loads of walking, shopping, coffee and fun. I don't want to get into too much detail about my trip at this very moment as I plan to update you in depth with separate posts on my plannings and journeys, however I do want to ask you all if there are any amazing shopping, dining or great sight seeing places that I need to know about?! I also have an 8 hour lay over (ugh) in China and am hoping some of you have done the same trip or live in China and can give me some tips for while I'm there!

You will all hear from me very soon

The Lorna Jane Movement

Hey all of you glamorous ladies! Let me start by saying OMG LORNA JANE IS HAVING A SALE! there you go I said it.. and shopped it. I know my Euro savings budget had a momentary lapse however I am a much happier girl after my 'little' splurge.

Today I want to show you my steals and also prove that Lorna Jane fitness wear can be fun and brought into your everyday wardrobe. I will link all of the items that I can but please remember that these are sale items and go sooo quickly so may not be able to link you to all of my purchases.

Black Headband /Yoga Mat/Adjustable Headband/Hair Ties/Sports Bra/Tights/Starlite Tank/Apricot Tank

The move nourish believe water bottle unfortunately has not been updated on the website however is full priced new stock and you can pick one of these up in your local LJ shop, I love this water bottle as it is one litre therefore I know I need to drink 3 bottles worth to get my daily dose of the good stuff!

Look One

This look is a work out look and I wore this outfit to a weights class. The tights and top move freely with your body and give you a comfortable work out. My shoes are Nike free runs and are old stock however all free runs are generally the same style with different prints and colors.

Look Two

I styled this tank casually with a pair of Mink Pink high wasted shorts and wore this to uni with a cute pair of flats. I have been SOO bogged down with uni work lately I have been spending my Saturdays at the library to try and get on top of it all and the last thing you want is to be uncomfortable while trying to study! I prefer to wear relax outfits so I'm not spending all my time adjusting my clothes haha.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, the sale is online and in your local store until stock runs out so get in quick! If you spend $250 or over you get a gift with purchase, my store was giving out yoga mats which I was SO happy with because I can use it at the gym and at home in many different work out routines.

Until next time

Fitness Frenzy

Good afternoon bloggers!

Today I wanted to share with you my work out regime and how I like to keep myself fit. If you read my previous post I mentioned there that I am some what of a health nut and enjoy keeping fit and nourishing my body. I also mentioned that I have previously been over weight, I am not at my goal weight however am in the process of working towards my goal for Europe later this year. I have been having some really great results lately so I was wanting to share with you all what is working for me and what I enjoy.

My work out schedule generally varies week to week especially now that uni is back I am really time limited and my work load tends to change. I aim to get three to four work outs in a week therefore really need to make them count. Two days I do weights and isolate muscle groups so I do legs one day and upper body the next, I always ensure I do a 20 minute walk after each weights session which ensures your metabolism is going to work at a higher rate meaning you will be burning calories for a lot longer! If your goal is weight loss this is what you want.

While I am trying to slim down this is the only weights I will do each week. My other sessions throughout the week are cardio based classes and strengthening. My  favorite class of all time is RPM! I managed to fit in this class twice this week and today did a double class of RPM and Pilates for some core strengthening.

A lot of people are afraid of RPM because it is an intense class, but I can't think of anything better for you! Spinning is a whole body work out if you have your bike set up correctly. YES your butt will hurt after the first few classes but girls, honestly you get used to it and well like they say nothing worth having comes easily. Once that music gets pumping, I focus and the rest of the world falls away I am in my zone and I wouldn't rather be anywhere else but working on my fitness and taking care of my body!

When focusing on your fitness and loosing weight your diet is your holy grail. I try and eat as organic and fresh as possible and cut out all sugars, wheat and dairy. I do take supplements to keep my body healthy and push for results. Let me know if you would like a separate post on supplements that I take that don't make you bulky like a body builder but instead are used for leaning down, toning and taking care of yourself.

I hope everyone has a happy and healthy weekend and I will endeavor to post more photos of my results so that you can share my health and fitness journey with me.

Liebster Award

The gorgeous Karina from Mademoiselle on the metro has nominated me for a Liebster Award.

Here are the rules:

1. 11 facts about yourself.
2. Answers to the 11 questions the person who nominated you has provided.
3. Provide new questions for bloggers you nominate the award to.
4. Choose 11 bloggers with 200 or less followers to nominate the award, and link their blogs.
5. Contact each blogger via whatever network you like and let them know you have nominated them.
6. Thank the person who nominated you and link their blog.

First, eleven facts about me:

1. I have naturally blond hair, light blond! But prefer my hair darker.

2. I am only 154cm (short i know) but have learned to embrace my height.

3. I moved around Australia quite a bit growing up, however I am now based on the Gold Coast and have lived here for eight years now. I think it is one of the most naturally beautiful places to live.

4. This year I have returned to study with Griffith University and started a new Degree - I am taking a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Contemporary Marketing and Chinese Business. I hope to apply for a scholarship in the next year. It is no secret that I changed my mind multiple times when choosing my career path but am confident in what I have chosen and am truly passionate about it.

5. I must admit I am a bit of a health nut, however I was over weight throughout my teenage years, my turning point was about two years ago when I decided to support a friend and join a 12 week challenge with her. This is how I began to learn about nutrition and exercise,  since then I have not looked back. I enjoy creating new clean recipes, doing further research on nutrition, and for me nothing feels better then a great work out to get the good endorphins pumping around my body.

6. I was single for most of my life, until about a year and a half ago when I met my prince charming. He is my best friend and I am so thankful for meeting him - I really do believe that once you stop looking for 'the one' he comes along!

7. I enjoy using positive affirmations morning and night to keep my inner self humble. I find this also helps to keep me happy and constantly striving to reach my goals.

8. I enjoy planning things out in full and making lists.

9. I am currently planning a trip through Europe with my man, this will be my first adult overseas holiday!

10. Even though I am in my twenties i don't really like going out and drinking, I am more of a home body and would rather spend my money on other things (drinking in Australia is expensive). Don't get me wrong I will still enjoy a social drink but it is only occasionally.

11. Oh, and I am a shopping addict! If i didn't have someone to keep me and my bank account grounded I would spend my entire weekly pay check on pretty things.

Here are the answer to Karina's questions:

1. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Okayyyy, out comes the list of places!! The ENTIRETY of Europe (I don't want to miss a thing!), Whistler, California, NYC, San Fran, Mexico, Hawaii, Africa, Japan, Vietnam, and China - this will do for now. haha
2. What is your favorite time of day?
Probably when I first wake up as this usually consists of a work out or watching the morning news with my coffee and breakfast!
3. What is your favorite holiday?
I would have to say a relaxing one, preferably where there is a pool and i get to wear a beautiful big floppy hat and cute bathers. But also central enough to some history and sights to explore.
4. What do you want to be when you grow up?
Wow, this is a tough one! I obviously want to do something with my degree but the main reason I chose to do a Business degree is so that I wasn't limited to what I can do in the big wide world of wonder! When I graduate I plan to work in marketing and the rest is a mystery.
5. How do you like to spend your weekend?
How i LIKE to spend my weekends and how I actually spend them are complete different things! I like the mystery of surprise, good food, some exercise, a sleep in and to get out of the house.
6. Coffee or tea?
Coffee in the morning, herbal teas throughout the day and night.
7. Why did you start blogging?
I became infatuated with Alex from HRH Collection's blog and then thought you know what I love writing and photographs so why not collaborate one of my own.
8. What is your favorite way to personalize an outfit?
I like to accessorize and generally add one statement piece to every outfit.
9. Which spring/summer trend are you most looking forward to?
Well here Summer has just finished so I will fill you in on the trends I love for Autumn, Winter! Leather, Peplums and cute jeans.
10. Which is your favorite room in your house?
My bedroom, this is where I feel most at peace. I am actually blogging from my bedroom right now!
11. How would you spend the perfect day off?

The perfect day off would consist of some sunshine, an Acai bowl for brekky (AHHHmazing!) and reading a good book or watching a good film with my lover.

My eleven questions for bloggers I have nominated:
1. Where have you traveled?
2. What is your favorite flower?
3. What is your favorite pass time?
4. Your favorite perfume is?
5. Are you a student? If so what are you studying?
6. Do you have a passion for anything in particular? And if so what?
7. What is on your bucket list?
8. Why did you start blogging?
9. What is your dream holiday destination?
10. Winter or Summer?
11. What is your favorite food?

 And the bloggers I've nominated:

1. Kat from Glamour Creations
2. Adele from Adele Maree
3. Rachel from Rachel Michelle
5. Renee from Miss Renaaye
6. Jasmine from Curlicue

I know I am supposed to nominate eleven but I really just wanted to share my favorite blogs with you and unfortunately there isn't eleven of them that i follow!! Also I am sorry If i have forgotten anyone! I am actually home sick with a spider bite today.. ugh still haven't come to terms with one of those disgusting things crawling on me!!

No.5 Culture Chanel

If you are in Paris between May and June fifth this year be sure to stop by Palais De Tokyo for an unveiling of a Chanel exhibition dedicated to the timelessness of Chanel No.5, titled No.5 Culture Chanel clearly having a focus on the fragrance itself but also the specific linked moments in history to this stunning fragrance. I am really quite saddened I won't find myself in Paris until the exhibition is closed as Coco Chanel has a significant influence on my life and the person I am today. She really was a fearless woman and I can only hope to aspire to be half the woman she was one day. For those that don't know too much about her life I really suggest that you invest in 'The Secret of Chanel No.5' for a bit of light reading you can find it here it is a really interesting read and gives you an intimate insight to her life and also the famous scent. I myself don't particularly like Chanel No.5 for a scent on my skin, I really don't think my skins accentuates the tones in the perfume very well however I will reveal that my signature scent is a Chanel scent and is Coco Mademoiselle and has been my very favorite perfume for the past two years.

What is your favorite Chanel scent?

Dropping A Line In

This week marks the week of many mile stones! Summer has ended here in Australia and with that brings Autumn. On the Gold Coast we have been battling rain for what feels like weeks now so my wardrobe has adapted to a winter like weather. With the seasons changing University has gone back and we are now at the end of the first week of semester, It has been a challenging week adapting my schedule to maintain a balance of work and study, mainly consisting of working, studying, eating and sleeping anddd then repeating. Tonight I am taking some time out to do some things for myself, catching up on the blogging world and relaxing! (Hallelujah). I thought I would post a photo of my totally cute and comfy jumper I got from the Uni book store, to celebrate my first year and my sister's last year of University life. I hope everyone had a good week and I will catch up with you all again soon.

Obsessed with Organic

Hey beautiful ladies! Now about two weeks ago I posted on my Instagram and Facebook fan page about a product called GlamGirl. I was put onto these products by a fellow blogger and was lucky enough to get to try these products for myself, now I am completely honest with all of my followers and I just want to say that yes, I did receive these products as a gift from the company to try, however I am going to give you a completely honest review on the products and am not being paid in any way by the company for reviewing these products which is why I took so long to review the product as I wanted to really get to use it and become familiar with it. You all know that I really do highly recommend good whole organic products. These particular products are organic and are made in Hong Kong, I was lucky enough to deal with a couple of the girls in the office and just wanted to let you all know how friendly and reliable they are! Despite the time difference they were always on top of my emails and contacting me back in a timely manner not to mention the postage was pretty damn quick!

Along with the tote bag I was given the Funny Bunny organic perfume balm which I will admit I am completely obsessed with! This particular balm is packed full with the sweet scent of lemon grass which I think is a beautiful scent for summer, and I also find it very soothing, calming and refreshing. I also received the Glam balm which is multipurpose, smells like cocoa butter without that preservative smell and I prefer to use just after I have scrubbed my lips with Lush Lip scrub (product by Lush only) leaving my lips feeling smooth and re hydrated. My favorite pick of the bunch would have to be the Funny Bunny organic perfume which has, I must admit become a daily occurrence in my hand bag and is the holy grail for being stuck without a bottle of perfume on you.

The tote bag is a good quality material and is a great size to be able to used for many things. I use mine to store some of my uni stuff in and is (currently) hanging on the back of my bedroom door.
What are some of your favorite organic brands?

Until next time,

A Peek Into a University Students Life

As the year progresses quickly Semester one of University approaches. I am a Contemporary Marketing student in the hopes to specialize in Chinese Business leading an incredibly busy life style. For me to achieve good marks and manage to have some sort of a balanced life style means that organization plays a big part in my day to day life. When it comes to my classes I really want to achieve the BEST possible grades. Here are some of my tips and tricks when it comes to studying and juggling a full time job that help keep me organized.

It all starts with the shopping list, I have already done my stationary and text book shopping for the year. I like to get in early when It comes to these two things mainly because book shops and the like tend to sell out quickly. Here are my purchases:

Due to working full time and many other things happening in my life at the moment I am only studying part time this semester, however when my euro trip ends I will be returning to reality and studying full time, therefore I decided to purchase all of my essentials for the year and will just need to top up on note books throughout the year as semesters come and go.

My key stationary piece would be my large pink folder.

The dividers help to keep things like lecture notes, slides, assessment and exam content separate from each other. I purchased the ones with the plastic tabs to stop wear throughout the year. When my subject is over I plan to remove the content from this folder into a simple plastic sleeved folder to keep paper from being damaged for If I need to reflect back on this work in future subjects and refill the pink folder. On the left hand side is a standard plastic slip to add loose pieces of paper to. I also stick a bunch of larger sized sticky notes to this so I am never stuck for one.

My pencil case.

You will notice all of the items in my pencil case are very bright and fun colours, this way I don't get bored of staring at a black, blue and red piece of paper. I also purchased the larger packets of pencils, pens and highlighters so I can stock up throughout the year If I run out, helping to manage my budget a little better. I will run through what pens and pencils I use and for writing on what to make It a little easier for you to understand how I like to study and what works for me.

The small sticky tabs you see are for marking pages in my text book that I think I will need to go back and read over for exams or assignments. These tabs are the plastic ones to stop from wearing, you don't want to get the paper ones as they bend and get tattered easily. The high lighters are for key words and for highlighting throughout my text book. 2B pencils will be used in exams, I like to write in mainly pencil in case I make a mistake. Blue pens are mainly for weekly quizzes or making changes to drafts, and last but not least my coloured pens are used for weekly note taking in my note books.

Might I also add that I have an extremely supportive boyfriend who gave me a beautiful Sheaffer pen as a gift for the academic year starting.

Find them here

Are any of you students also? If so what Is your favourite way to keep organized and what are you studying?  I hope you all enjoyed this post.

A Baking Lesson with Yours Truly

Hey pretty girls!
This past weekend was spent celebrating my amazing boyfriend's birthday. I feel like sometimes our day to day life can get so superficial and materialistic that I wanted to add to his special day by baking him this delish cake! Now let me add that I am not the best baker in the bake house, actually I'm quite terrible. I did use a packet sponge for this cake; not only because i tend to suck at baking from scratch but because i was rather time poor when baking the sponge. You can use whatever sponge you want with this baby and it will taste amaze!

Ingredients:

Betty crocker strawberries & cream sponge mix
Three eggs
Vegetable Oil
Three packets of family block kit kat (either milk chocolate or white)
Two packets of mnm's in whichever flavor you want (I used coconut flavor)
Philadelphia frosting
 A thick ribbon

Method

Grease cake tin.
Combine cake mix, eggs and oil together in a bowl blend on high for two minutes and blend on low for a further one minute pour into cake tin and bake for recommended time stopping to check on the sponge with a skewer to ensure it doesn't dry out while in the oven.
Let sponge cool for around twenty to thirty minutes.

Take refrigerated Philadelphia frosting and spread evenly over the cake.

Chop kit kat block in half and assemble using two fingers at a time, surround the cake with pieces of the kit kat chocolate.

And finally! Cover the top with MnM's & wrap the cake up with your beautiful ribbon!

I was really happy with the way this cake turned out, It was something completely different, fun and I feel that the flavors complimented each other perfectly and gave off a beautiful summery taste!

What are your favorite cakes?

Until next time

Put Your Best Smile Forward

When you walk into a room a healthy, beautiful smile is important and unforgettable in every instance.
I am  (now) a confessed lipstick addict and wanted to share my top three lipsticks with you!

I also wanted to let you know that generally I take snaps to upload with my Apple Iphone however am wanting to get you guys some better quality pictures so have dug my camera out and have been playing with the effects/shutter and hopefully this improves the image quality. Today I have used my camera so please let me know if you have any pro tips for me!

I have swatched each of the colours so that you have a better idea of what they look like on as some colours can be really deceiving just on the lipstick itself.
